The young man was found seriously injured on a property on Chipperfield Drive in Kingswood on Friday night (March 25) and was rushed to hospital. Unfortunately, he died in the early hours of Saturday morning and the community is in turmoil. A 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of murder and this morning (Sunday) the police received permission from the judges to extend her detention time by 24 hours. Police confirmed that the woman and the victim knew each other. There is a police tape blocking the front of the property holding a fence, and community police officers take turns guarding the scene. Police officers were spotted knocking on doors in the neighborhood and talking to locals. Outside the front of the property, people left bunches of flowers as a tribute to the deceased man, who has not yet been officially identified. Within an hour, at least three separate groups arrived at the property to lay flowers outside and two teddy bears were among the remaining tributes. What was clear was a sense of shock and sadness among those walking in the area. One neighbor said the incident was “obviously a real shock”, and another said it was a very “sad” situation. Two men around 20 came to the property with flowers. They said they knew the man who died at school and one said, “He was a wonderful guy. He’s really sad.” A man who lived nearby also spoke of his shock at what happened, saying it is very difficult when something like this happens so close to where he lives, something that seemed to be a common feeling among neighbors on Chipperfield Drive. Writing on Facebook, another friend of the man wrote: “You will really miss him. Such a real gentleman.” Flower tributes have now been moved to a family member’s home, but police remain in the area guarding the property and talking to neighbors in an attempt to find out exactly what happened there on Friday night. Anyone with information on what happened was asked to contact the police at 101, calling reference number 5222071378. Do you want our best stories with fewer ads and alerts when the big news falls?
