The crash occurred at Lake Shore Boulevard West and Superior Avenue in Mimico shortly after 5:30 p.m. Toronto Police Kathleen Sheremetkovsky said a white SUV was traveling east at high speed when it “went through a red light” and hit two pedestrians at a crosswalk before colliding with a parked tractor-trailer level. Sheremetkovsky said that when police and paramedics arrived, they found the driver and the two pedestrians without vital signs. Despite rescue efforts, all three were found dead at the scene. The police did not disclose the age and names of the three people. “We are looking for members of the public who may be in the area, if they have a dashboard camera or video, to provide this information to the traffic services,” Sheremetkovsky said. Police have closed the roads in the area as they investigate the accident. Heather Brown, who has lived in the area since 1998, said she heard a click but thought it was from a nearby construction site. “There were some things that fell, but nothing like that,” he said. “I do not want to be someone I know.” “There have been a lot of accidents lately. There are so many people being hit by cars as slowing down or doing something,” he added. Another woman who grew up in the neighborhood said she immediately came to check on who was injured as many elderly people and children live in the area. “Very catastrophic. We have not had an accident in this area for years,” Tracy said. “We all hope that nothing concerns a child or an elderly person we know.” “I do not want to see anyone injured in this neighborhood.”
