The Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said it had arrived at the scene of the collision in Upper Heyford, near Bicester, at 12.18pm on Saturday. The agency shared a dramatic photo of the crumpled aircraft next to the damaged outer wall of a property that Thames Valley Police (TVP) said was an empty apartment building near Camp Road. An Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue spokesman said one person was taken to hospital after the crash, which TVP identified as the pilot. The Fire Department said: “At 12.18am today crews from Bicester, Deddington and Banbury with the support of the Kidlington Fire Department Rescue Service and Wheatley Transportation Water came in to support our Thames Police Department colleagues. Valley and the NHS South Central Ambulance Service with a light aircraft crash in Upper Hayford. “The crews worked closely with our colleagues from other services to bring the incident to a safe end with one person being transported to the hospital.” TVP urged anyone with video of the crash or information to contact the force. A spokesman said: “The plane crashed into an uninhabited apartment building near Camp Road in Upper Heyford around noon. The pilot is being treated at the hospital but no one else was injured. Anyone with plans or information, call 101 at 857. “ The Aviation Accident Investigation Department (AAIB) said an investigation had been launched and inspectors were investigating the scene. The branch said: “An accident in Upper Heyford, Oxfordshire, with a light aircraft has been reported to AAIB.”
