Photo: Contributed Lines down on Highway 6 east of Lumby UPDATE 1:20 p.m. DriveBC says Highway 6 is now open again for alternating single-lane traffic. There is still electricity in hundreds of homes in the area. BC Hydro says their crews arrived at 1pm, but there is no estimated time for electricity to be restored. ORIGINAL 11:50 a.m. DriveBC reports that Highway 6 is closed in both directions east of Lumby as a result of a power outage. The road is closed six miles east of Lumby between Gibson Rd and Montgomery Rd, says DriveBC. BC Hydro also reports that power outages have been cut off for customers in the North Okanagan, including 787 in Cherryville, 519 in Mabel Lake and 124 customers in Lumby who have all been without power since 11:30 a.m. Monday. BC Hydro’s holiday map shows that crews have been sent to assess the damage, but there is no estimate of when power will be restored.
