An investigation into the murder has begun after an 80-year-old woman was stabbed to death at her home in east London. The pensioner was found with knife wounds at an address on Landseer Avenue, E12, just before 10 this morning. A man in his 30s, believed to have known the woman, was arrested. The woman was seriously injured when police officers went to the property along with the London Ambulance Service and the London Air Ambulance. Her death was confirmed at the scene. Police launched an emergency search in the surrounding area, where a man in his 30s was arrested and taken into custody. At this early stage, it is believed that the woman and the detainee knew each other. Investigations are ongoing to determine the conditions. The woman’s family has been informed of the tragedy. It has not been identified and an autopsy-necropsy will be arranged in due course. All witnesses or anyone with information that may assist the investigation is invited to contact.
