On Monday, March 28, around 4:10 p.m., police were called to Rising Sun Country Park where a woman reported being raped near the Pit Heap area. An investigation was launched immediately and police officers remained in the area for the last few days conducting investigations. The victim is being treated by specially trained police officers. He is currently being held by police. Leading the investigation, Chief Inspector Detective Shelley Hudson said: “We continue to support the victim at this time and would like to commend his courage and co-operation with the investigation. “Our teams have been working tirelessly since Monday, reviewing CCTV and conducting a series of surveys. We can confirm that we have now made an arrest, but that does not mean our investigation is over and we are still interested in hearing from anyone who thinks they may to have information that could help us with our research. “We would like to thank the public for their continued support and cooperation.
