The Sacramento Police Department said it had arrested 26-year-old Dandrae Martin and charged him with assault and illegal possession of a firearm following an overnight search. Police described him as a “related suspect” but did not provide further details on his alleged involvement. The police had previously stated that at least two people opened a fire in the city center as people were coming from the bars they closed. The video shows people on stage sprinting away from the shots. Sacramento police said preliminary processing of the scene showed that at least three buildings and three vehicles were hit by gunfire and more than 100 shells were pulled from the area. In the Communication of Martin’s arrest, the police did not provide any information on research for other suspects – although he said they had subsidized research warrants in three housing and “at least” a pistol had been recovered. Melinda Davis, 57; Sergio Harris, 38; Joshua Hoye-Lucchesi, 32; Yamile Martinez-Andrade, 21; and De’vazia Turner, 29. The twelve victims injured in the shootings remain in hospital. Police said their condition varied from minor to critical but stable. Lawmakers across the country, including President Joe Biden, have used the incident to call for arms control and reform. “We know these lives were not the only lives affected by last night’s armed violence. And we mourn the victims and the families who do not make headlines nationally,” Biden said in a statement Monday. “But we must do more than mourn; we must act.” Investigators have previously said they were looking at a video posted on social media about a major battle that erupted just before the shootings, but it is not yet clear if it was related to the shooting.
