Merseyside police were called around 10.30pm after reports that a man had suffered a head injury following an incident near McCulley’s bar. It was reported that the victim punched, fell to the ground and hit his head on the sidewalk. Emergency services rushed and a man was taken to hospital with serious injuries not believed to be life-threatening. Police have arrested a 42-year-old man from Liverpool on suspicion of attacking the 18th Division on the spot. A scene in Music Square after last night’s attack has now been removed, but CCTV investigations by medical examiners and witnesses are ongoing. Detective Inspector Gavin Mulcahy said: “We are investigating an attack last night that left a man with serious injuries and we will appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact us. While we made a quick arrest, our investigations are ongoing. We want our city center to be a safe place for everyone to enjoy. “Merseyside and we just will not tolerate such acts of violence on our streets.
