A 21-year-old man from Marystown, who had already been suspended from driving, was charged with dangerous driving after he was seen being taken prisoner on an ATV on the freeway near Salt Pond, Burin.
The RCMP says an officer, who had just finished his shift, noticed an ATV speeding on Creston Avenue. The driver, who was known to police, was not wearing a helmet and continued to speed along the road before being driven to a grassy area, making donuts.
The policeman parked a short distance away and took a video with the driver traveling on the highway while standing in the back of the machine while making a wheel according to the police.
The policeman followed the ATV to a local gas station and the off-duty officer snatched the driver’s keys. A duty officer accused the driver of dangerously operating a vehicle and gave him a ticket for a number of other traffic offenses. The ATV was confiscated and confiscated. Dana Miller is scheduled to appear in court later.
