According to Variety, Sony’s latest superhero blockbuster brought in another $ 44.9 million at the international box office, bringing its global gross to $ 84 million. The film’s production of Jared Leto cost Sony $ 75 million to produce, which is less than most other superhero films. It also brought in far fewer than Sony’s other two pandemic comics, Spider-Man: No Way Home and Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Spider-Man opened at $ 260 million and Venom started strong at $ 90 million. Morbius is obviously a lesser known character than Spider-Man or Venom, so it’s a little harder for the film to come up with its lower reviews. Morbius currently has 17% on Rotten Tomatoes and we here at IGN gave it a 5/10. In our review of Morbius, we said that “Morbius is a story of no fangs and no bite, tarnished by bad digital computer battles, and an overly serious tone that does not favor the dark film.” Lost City, starring Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum and won the box office last weekend against Batman, came in second with $ 14.8 million. This returns the total to $ 54.5 million. Speaking of Batman, The Last Knight of the Big Screen, the Dark Knight, secured third place with $ 10.8 million. Batman has surpassed $ 349 million in the domestic box office and has reached $ 710.5 million worldwide. Uncharted and Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie topped the top five, grossing $ 3.6 million and $ 1.9 million, respectively. All of these films will face stiff competition from Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on April 8 and Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore on April 15.
