Tracy Connelly, 40, was jailed in 2009 for the death of her son, who died after suffering more than 50 injuries, including a broken rib and a broken back. The case sparked outrage as Baby P was on the risk register and received 60 visits from social workers, police and health professionals over an eight-month period. His mother was jailed for causing or allowing his death at their home in Tottenham, north London in 2007. A spokesman for the Parole Board said: “We can confirm that a parole board committee led to the release of Tracey Connolly after an oral hearing. “The decisions of the Release Council focus exclusively on the risk that a prisoner could pose to the public if he is released and if that risk is manageable in the community. “Release checks are carried out thoroughly and with great care. Protecting the public is our number one priority.” Connelly’s friend Steven Barker and his brother Jason Owen were also charged. She pleaded guilty and was sentenced to public protection (IPP) with a minimum of five years in prison. This is her fourth criticism from the Parole Board since she was imprisoned. The decision was due to be made last year, but was delayed pending further reports and information. Connelly was released on bail in 2013, but was released from prison in 2015 for violating the terms of her release.
