A lucky man will soon have his stolen bike returned thanks to a police officer with a remarkable memory. Kelowna RCMP say two members of the community safety unit were on patrol Sunday around 4 p.m. when they saw a man who appeared to be working on a bicycle. The constable noted the distinctive white with blue markings on the bike and recalled that a similar bike had been stolen on October 31, 2021. Officers confronted the man working on the bike, who was unable to provide proof of ownership. The man claimed to have found the bike. Using the bike’s serial number, RCMP were able to confirm the bike was stolen. The bike was impounded and will be returned to its owner when it returns to Kelowna later this month. “The importance of documenting serial numbers will greatly increase the likelihood that the police will return your property when located,” said Const. Mike Della-Paolera Kelowna.
