Lawrence Burton, 61, was convicted of double murder in 1995 and released on bail in 2020 when he lived next to Pauline Quinn, according to the he Mirror.  Burton warned yesterday that he faces life in prison when he is convicted of killing Mrs Quinn.

Bierton killed sisters Elsie Gregory, 72, and Aileen Dudhill, 79, at their home in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, in 1995. One woman was killed with a knife, while the other was stabbed. Pauline’s neighbors told the Mirror they did not know Bierton was a convicted murderer when he made his way to Kilton, near Worksop, in the Notts. Judge Dickinson told Nottingham Court: “Mr Burton lived in this department with the permission of the people who supervised his life.” Bierton looked emotionless as he pleaded guilty to killing Pauline’s mother of three via a video link. He also admitted a second charge of theft, which replaced an original charge of robbery.
