Meet Ardel
The Hubble Telescope recently discovered a new star and was given a fun name inspired by Tolkien. It took light from Earendel 12.9 billion years to reach Earth. Scientists believe that Eardendel is a star from the first billions of years of the universe. Although not one of the original stars, scientists believe the discovery will give them a deeper understanding of the origins of our universe. The star has about 50 times the mass of our sun. The Hubble Telescope has been around since the early 1990s, but it has received some fancy updates since then. NASA’s latest star is the James Webb Telescope, which was launched for all to see at Christmas. The new James Webb telescope will search the deepest parts of space for composite methane to begin exploring signs of life in the rest of the universe.
