HOUSTON (NASA PR) – Two press conferences on Thursday, March 31, at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston will highlight the organization’s upcoming SpaceX Crew-4 mission to the International Space Station. The mission will be the last NASA crew rotation flight involving a US merchant spacecraft carrying astronauts. The agency will hold a press conference with an overview of the mission at 10:30 a.m. EDT and a crew press conference at noon. Both press conferences will be broadcast live on NASA television, on the NASA application and on the organization’s website. The Crew-4 mission will carry NASA astronauts Kjell Lindgren, Bob Hines and Jessica Watkins, as well as ESA (European Space Agency) astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti. The Falcon 9 rocket carrying the Crew Dragon capsule is scheduled to be launched Tuesday, April 19, from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Crew-4 astronauts will be available for a limited number of interviews

This will be Lindgren’s second space flight since becoming an astronaut in 2009. As commander of the mission, he will be responsible for all phases of the flight, from launch to re-entry. He will serve as an Expedition 67 flight engineer at the station. The mission will be Hines’s first flight since being selected as an astronaut in 2017. As a pilot, he will be responsible for the spacecraft’s systems and performance. At the station, he will serve as an Expedition 67 flight engineer. Watkins will make its first space trip and as a mission specialist will work closely with the pilot and pilot to monitor the spacecraft during the dynamic launch and re-entry phases of the flight. Once on board, he will become a flight engineer for Expedition 67.
