The standard PS Plus subscription will be renamed PlayStation Plus Essential. Despite the new name, they are functionally the same services. PS Plus Essential will cost $ 60 per year and offer the same benefits, including free monthly games, cloud storage, multiplayer online playback, and discounts on selected discounts. The PlayStation Plus Extra will cost $ 15 a month or $ 100 a year and has up to 400 PS4 and PS5 games. Sony’s description of Extra tier is a bit vague, but subscribers will be able to download games to the library on their console to play. It will include first and third part games. Considering the number of games at this level, it sounds almost like a combination of PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now, which will be discontinued in June. Current PlayStation Now subscribers will be converted to PS Plus Extra subscribers upon release. The most expensive of the bundle, the PlayStation Plus Premium, will have “up to 340 extra games” compared to the Extra. The PlayStation Plus Premium will cost $ 18 per month or $ 120 per year. Premium add-on games seem to be heavily focused on the PlayStation back list, with genuine PlayStation, PS2, PS3 and PSP games available for playback. PS3 games will be locked to the cloud feed, but at least some of the other backward compatible classics will be available for download. The Premium level comes with a few other benefits, such as limited gaming testing and cloud computing. All three subscription levels will be available on PS5 and PS4, though PS5 users will have access to more games. PlayStation has confirmed a handful of PS5 and PS4 games that will be available to Extra and Premium subscribers on release:
Death Stranding God of War Marvel’s Spider-Man Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Mortal Kombat 11 Back (PS5 only)
The PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium will first be available in Asia, but it looks like users in North America and Europe will be able to sign up in June. If you live in an area where cloud streaming is not supported for PlayStation, you will have the opportunity to sign up for PlayStation Plus Deluxe at a lower price.
