New Pokemon Scarlet And Violet Trailer Revealed During The Pokemon World Championships

As befits the space, this video focuses almost entirely on the competitive combat mechanics, showing off a handful of new moves, items, and Terastallizing. The trailer opens with a new Pokemon: Cyclizar, a drivable dragon Pokemon that resembles the games’ legendary mascots Koraidon and Miraidon. Cyclizar is able to learn a new move called Shed Tail, which creates a substitute and then swaps places with a different Pokemon in your party. The trailer also shows off some new items you can equip your Pokemon with during battle. Mirror Herb will copy an opponent’s stat increases, while Loaded Dice makes it more likely that multi-hit moves like Bullet Seed will hit more times. Finally, the trailer provides another look at Terastallizing, Scarlet and Violet’s new battle mechanic. As previously revealed, Pokemon can change types when Terastallize, which can dramatically change the tide of battle. Coalossal, which is usually a fire/rock type, can become a water type after Terastallizing, making it easier to activate the Steam Engine ability. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet launches for Nintendo Switch on November 18th. Everyone who buys a copy before February 28, 2023 will receive a special bonus Pikachu.
