The number of cases hospitalized on Saturday increased compared to 667 reported on Friday and 661 reported on Thursday. The total number of patients in intensive care units across Ontario, on the other hand, dropped slightly from the 161 ICUs reported the previous day. Officials also reported nine new net deaths due to COVID-19. Officials said five of the deaths occurred in the last 30 days, while four of them occurred a month ago. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 12,397 people have lost their lives due to the disease. The county reported 2,754 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, but health officials have warned the number is underestimated due to testing restrictions and delays. With 17,341 tests processed in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health says the province’s positive rate is about 13.5 percent. The county estimates that 1,921 more cases of the disease will be resolved by Saturday, bringing the number of patients who have recovered in Ontario to 1,120,117. Today’s report puts the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases in Ontario at 1,151,090.
