Provincial health officials say there are now 553 patients with COVID-19 in Ontario hospitals, virtually unchanged from 551 last Sunday.
Of those treated with COVID-19, 157 are admitted to the ICU, up from 182 seven days ago.
Note that not all hospitals in the province report data over the weekend.
The county says three of the virus-related deaths confirmed today occurred last month and an additional death occurred more than a month ago. The four additional deaths confirmed today bring the death toll from the province’s COVID-19 to 12,401.
Another 2,215 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the last 24 hours, but this does not accurately reflect the true severity of the infection in Ontario due to test restrictions.
Of the cases confirmed today, 251 are people who have not been fully vaccinated, 560 are people with two doses of COVID-19 vaccine, 1,206 are people who have received three doses of COVID-19 and 198 people with an unknown vaccination status.
Another 16,066 tests were processed in the last 24 hours, resulting in a positive rate of 12.2%, unchanged from the previous week.
The numbers used in this story are in the Ontario Department of Health’s Daily Epidemiological Summary COVID-19. The number of cases for any city or region may differ slightly from that reported by the province, as local units report data at different times.
