Firefighters were called to Douglas Avenue between Beechwood and Putman Avenues shortly after 1pm on several 911 calls that reported smoke from the roof. Firefighters located a whirlpool and cut off the power before extinguishing the flames. They used a chainsaw to open the whirlpool to extinguish the hot spots in the whirlpool. The fire was brought under control at 13:40 and did not spread to the rest of the building. No one was injured.
The fire was brought under control at 13:39. Firefighters searched the entire construction and no injuries were reported.
