A Luxembourg court has ruled on Tuesday that Ireland’s system for retaining and accessing mobile phone metadata – which helped secure the conviction of Graham Dwyer – violated European Union law. The ruling stated that EU law prohibited the general and indiscriminate retention of traffic and location data in electronic communications for the purpose of combating serious crime, a decision based on a landmark decision in 2014 that limited the ability of police and intelligence services to extract huge amounts of data....

Committee members were expected to meet Monday night to discuss whether to criminalize congressional contempt for Navarro, Trump’s former trade adviser, and Scavino, a former deputy chief of staff. Around 4 a.m. Aug. 22, a fire broke out between two buildings on Powell Street near Princess Avenue. According to Assistant Fire Chief Pierre Morin, there was an explosion outside that blew out windows and ignited the fire in the first two buildings and eventually spread to a third....

Die Explosion ereignete sich in der Küche der Wohnung. Dort war eine Gasflasche für einen Elektro/Fett-Kombiherd gelagert. Dabei handelte es sich um ein Leck und laut Feuerwehr in einem verschlossenen Schrank....

Kelly’s federal trial in Chicago heard testimony from a polygraph test administrator on Tuesday, Aug. 23, as prosecutors sought to show how the disgraced singer and associates allegedly tried to cover up and deflect an earlier sexual assault and child pornography complaints and investigations. According to a recent weekly report released by the BC Centers for Disease Control, 290 cases of the flu have been counted from 142,931 tests as of October 3, with a test result rate of 0.2 percent. More than half of these flu cases (163) were reported by Vancouver Coastal Health. The BCCDC says tests have been high this season compared to previous years, but virus detection remains low. Nationwide, Health Canada reports that only 551 cases of influenza have been identified between August 29 and March 12, which is significantly lower than in pre-pandemic times....

Manchester police said the girl went to the hospital after the attack, but fortunately was not seriously injured. The force said it was “understandably shaken” and that it was supported by her family. They described the attack as an “isolated incident”, but believe there were several witnesses who saw what happened. Now they are called to come forward.
