Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin spoke with former President Donald Trump before submitting documents to run for Congress, and Trump encouraged her to do so, two sources familiar with the conversation told Fox News.
Palin announced Friday night that she is seeking a seat in Parliament that will be vacant following the death of MP Don Yang, who died earlier this year after 49 years in office.

“I realize I have very big shoes to fill and I intend to honor the Rep.’S legacy. “Young offering myself in the name of service to the state he loved and fought for, because I share that passion for Alaska and the United States,” Palin said in a statement posted on social media platforms.

Friday was the last day Palin could have run in the race, as it was the deadline for candidates to apply for the June 11 Alaska primary. The 2008 GOP vice-presidential candidate joins a busy stadium with more than 40 candidates vying for Young’s seat for nearly half a century.

The results of the qualifying elections will be announced on June 26 and the first four will qualify in special elections on August 16, where the winner will be selected through a ranking ballot. according to the Anchorage Daily News.
