Chelsea suffered their first defeat of the new season in emphatic fashion on Sunday afternoon, going down 3-0 away to Leeds in the Premier League. The Blues dashed any optimism early in the campaign with a sloppy display at the weekend. Brenden Aaronson, Rodrigo Moreno and Jack Harrison were on the Leeds scoresheet. Silva screams at his Chelsea teammates
BBC pundit Nevin claims Chelsea centre-back Silva was visibly mad at his players moments before Leeds scored a quick-fire first-half double. Obviously, the 37-year-old felt the danger and pressure building on his side. “That first 45 minutes was great from Jesse Marsch, the players got on well and looked to be everywhere with no space for Chelsea. Every time Chelsea got the ball, Leeds closed it down. Panic stations for Chelsea, Thiago Silva noticed before the first goal, screaming to get to his players but not quick enough. By the time they adjusted they were five minutes down and two goals down,” Nevin told BBC Radio 5 Live. Photo by PAUL ELLIS/AFP via Getty Images
Upcoming matches
Certainly, Thomas Tuchel’s side must quickly draw a line in the sand and move on from Sunday.
There is now an important round of games ahead where they need to get some wins on the board to move up the league table.
They play Leicester City and West Ham in their next three games, both of whom are winless and sit in the relegation zone during this early part of the season. Chelsea travel to Southampton in between those games as well.
It’s an uncertain time at Stamford Bridge at the moment with transfer rumors in full flow, but the current squad on the pitch must analyze the results before the final squad is assembled.
