Hulu has confirmed to Variety that he will star in the show’s third season, after making a cameo appearance by Broadway star Ben Glenroy in the season 2 finale “I Know Who Did It.” It has not yet been announced whether Rudd will appear in a series regular, recurring or guest appearance. “Paul Rudd, after making a hopeful entry into the world of our show at the end of Season 2 as Ben Glenroy, is someone we clearly want to learn more about and see in the upcoming Season 3 – as he’s a clear source of many upcoming questions and, as always with our show, many more twists and turns!” series co-creator John Hoffman said in a statement to Variety. ‘Only Murders in the Building’ follows Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short) and Mabel (Selena Gomez), three unlikely friends who live in the same building in New York and are bound by their love of real crime when they find themselves in the middle of a real-life murder mystery and start their own podcast. Season 2 sees them race to uncover the murderer of Arconia board chairman Bunny Folger (Jayne Houdyshell). However, three (unfortunate) complications ensue – the trio are publicly implicated in Bunny’s murder, are now the subject of a competing podcast, and have to deal with a bunch of New York neighbors who all believe they committed murder. Season 3 was greenlit in July. Martin co-created the series with Hoffman. Martin, Hoffman, Short and Gomez executive produce alongside Dan Fogelman, Jess Rosenthal and Jamie Babbit. Rudd’s new role in “Only Murders in the Building” reunites him with Selena Gomez, as the two starred together in the 2016 Netflix film “The Fundamentals of Caring.” Among his notable songs are “Clueless”, “Wet Hot American Summer”, “The 40-Year-Old Virgin” and Marvel’s “Ant-Man”.
