Police said the man was admitted to a hospital in Hurontario Street and Queensway West shortly after 8:30 p.m., suffering from obvious signs of injury.
He was later pronounced dead.  On Saturday, police identified the victim as Omar Simpson of Newmarket.
The homicide bureau is investigating the death of Simpson, who is the eighth Peel homicide victim of the year.
Police initially said Simpson had gunshot wounds, but later said the nature of his injuries was unknown.  Police said Saturday that homicide investigators may have found the scene at Sunnyhill and Fieldgate drives.
“At the moment, there is no suspicious information about sharing.  “However, this is believed to be an isolated incident,” police said in a statement on Saturday.
