The alleged events took place between 1 November 1997 and 15 November 1998, according to an arrest warrant filed with the Quebec prosecutor’s office. Nygard or his lawyers are expected to appear in Montreal on Tuesday, most likely via video conference. The 80-year-old was already facing charges of sexual trafficking and blackmail in the United States, as well as charges of sexual assault in Toronto, where he is currently being held. Nygard’s extradition to the United States has been ordered by the Canadian Minister of Justice, but not until the charges are settled in Canada. U.S. authorities have accused Nygard of using his business to lure women and girls to the United States, Canada and the Bahamas since 1995.
