Ambulances and police flooded the spot and the road has been blocked while searches are underway. Police later located an abandoned VW Golf nearby.
Early reports indicate that the pedestrian was seriously injured. The buses have changed routes and there is no information on when the road will reopen.

A West Midlands police spokesman said: “We are investigating a hit and run on Washwood Heath Road. The female pedestrian was hit near the Mickleover Road intersection just before 4.40pm.
“The road is closed for searches and we would ask you to avoid the area. We are in the early stages of our search, but we found a VW Golf that was abandoned nearby.”
