A press release issued by Sault Ste. Marie Police Service reports that the 38-year-old was arrested on April 1 for a traffic violation when police saw him throwing something. The item contained suspicious drugs as well as Canadian currency. The full text of the announcement is as follows: On April 1, 2022, officers of the Patrol Services and the Drug Prosecution Unit denounced 38-year-old Nikolas Fata for possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. Around 2:30 a.m., police spotted a man riding an e-bike without a helmet on John Street. The police stopped the traffic and noticed the man throwing something. As soon as they spoke to the man, the police identified him as the accused. Police recovered the object thrown by the accused and contained about 33 grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine, 16 grams of a substance believed to be fentanyl, 12 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine, four tablets believed to be oxycodone and $ 235. in Canadian currency. The estimated road value of the seized drugs is $ 12,652. Arrested and charged with: • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking x4 • Violation of surveillance – failure to observe peace and good behavior • Driving a motor vehicle without license plates in accordance with the Law on Road Traffic • Improper use of a motorcycle helmet according to the motorcycle for motorway traffic • Driving a motor vehicle without a license in accordance with the law on motorway traffic He was released on bail and is scheduled to appear in court on June 6, 2022.
