Police shot a man after a fire in Inverness, it was revealed. Officers attended an accommodation in the city’s Polvanie View around 3pm today following a report of concern for one person. Scottish police said that when they attended, the property was found to be on fire. No one was injured in the blaze, which was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. However, some neighboring houses had to be evacuated. A 40-year-old man was shot by police during the incident. He was arrested for the incident and taken to Raigmore Hospital for treatment where he remains with serious injuries. As with any firearm and Taser development, the circumstances of the incident have been referred to the Commissioner of Police Investigations and Review (PIRC). Investigations are ongoing and anyone with a video of the incident should contact the police via the 101 emergency telephone number. Attorney General Conrad Trickett said: “We want to reassure the public that this incident is limited and that there is no danger to the general public. “There will be additional patrols in the area in the coming days and anyone with any concerns should contact the police. “We would also ask anyone who has any information or material from the incident to contact us.” Anyone with any information should contact the police at 101, giving the incident number 0793.
