Photo: Contributed British Columbia police say they are investigating the death of a baby at Victoria General Hospital. The Independent Bureau of Investigation said in a statement Saturday that Victorian police responded to a request early Thursday to check on the health of the woman and child. The office says that later that day the woman called paramedical staff for the child. Both the mother and the child were taken to hospital, but the baby was pronounced dead. The guard says he is investigating whether the actions or inactions of the police played a role in the death. He says the BC Coroners Service and police are also investigating the baby’s death.
