Thanksgiving marks the first public appearance of Prince Andrew since he was stripped of his military titles and royal patronage and paid millions out of court to settle a political sexual assault case. The two royal members traveled together from Windsor Castle to Westminster Abbey in the Queen’s state limousine. At the end of the aisle they parted – with Andrew taking one last look at his mother as she turned right to take her place next to Prince Charles. The Duke of York also sat in the front row but in the other corridor. After the service was over, he accompanied His Majesty outside the abbey – at one point he burst out smiling as he stopped to greet the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award winner Doyin Sonibare. The couple was seen leaving with the Queen’s car. It has been more than a month since Prince Andrew’s compromise with his accuser Virginia Gioufre, in which he pledged to make a “significant donation” to her charity that supports victims of sex trafficking. Photo: AP In January, the Queen stripped her second son of his prestigious military honors and royal sponsorships, and he stopped using the HRH style, in a move that effectively removed him from the institution. Last month, a letter to the U.S. District Court said Andrew “regrets his relationship” with embarrassed stockbroker Jeffrey Epstein. The scandal led Andrew to resign from the royal throne in November 2019.
