A judge was informed that “significant funds” had been paid to the Duke and Duchess of York. The couple were later named by Supreme Court Justice David Halpern in a recent ruling in the case, which covers a dispute between Nebachat Isbilen, 70, and London-based businessman Selman Turk. Ms Isbilen needed help moving her assets out of Turkey after her husband was jailed for his “political beliefs”, the judge said. Since then, the elderly woman has claimed that Mr Turk “violated her fiduciary duties” and “defrauded claims in advance”. The trial is ongoing, with Mr Turk battling the case, but a number of preliminary rulings have been issued. Judge Halpern said a lawyer representing Ms Isbilen had told him in an affidavit that information had emerged that showed Mr Turk’s information was “misleading”. He said attorney Jonathan Tickner told him how the evidence showed that “money was used for purposes unrelated to Mrs. Isbilen, for example, significant sums were paid to Prince Andrew, Duke of York, and Sarah, Duchess of York ».
