The Ricketts family has given an eight-point promise to Chelsea fans as part of its takeover bid. Chelsea fans have strongly condemned the Ricketts’s offer to buy the club and staged a protest outside Stamford Bridge on Saturday. The anger of Chelsea fans turned mainly to Joe Rickets, who is the father of the Chicago Camps owners who are now trying to buy Chelsea, after he described the Muslims as “my enemy” in emails that have been leaked since 2019. The Ricketts family is one of the last four bidders aiming to buy the club from Roman Abramovich, although Joe Ricketts has no role in the Chelsea takeover bid. But the Ricketts family has now made a list of promises to Chelsea supporters in a bid to allay concerns about their takeover bid. Their promise includes a promise that the name, mark or color of the stadium would not change during their reign. The Ricketts family has also promised that the club will never sign up for a breakaway European Super League, which was proposed last year before several clubs withdrew after widespread fan backlash. THE FAMILY RICKETS COMMIT TO CHELSEA FANS
They have also pledged to “commit the necessary resources” to continue investing in the team and have pledged to “match the current commitment” with the Women’s side. Meanwhile, former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has urged the Ricketts family to end their takeover plans. “There has been a lot of movement and noise over the last week that the Ricketts offer seems to be favored and has the same treatment as other parties have suggested,” Neville told Sky Sports. “I must say, we do not know. There is no transparency, there is no independence in English football so you can determine how you bid for a football club. “If I was the Ricketts family and I had that kind of hostility on the street, leave. Get away, fans are important. “We have seen unpopular owners like the Glazers at Manchester United or Mike Ashley at Newcastle United, it neutralizes the absolute life of a football team and a city. “So we have to make sure we go ahead, it has nothing to do with the offers, but with what the fans want.” For more stories like this, check out our sports page.
