The Sacramento Police Department says the shooting took place early Sunday morning. The video posted on Twitter shows people running in the street as the sound of rapid gunfire could be heard in the background. The video shows several ambulances have been sent to the spot. Police gave few details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting, but said “there will be a large police presence and the scene remains active. “Police have identified at least 15 victims of the shootings, six of whom are dead,” police said in a statement. Residents were urged to avoid the area, which is full of restaurants and bars leading to the Golden One Center, where the Sacramento Kings play basketball. Local politicians made shocking statements. “At around 2:30 a.m., I received a call that no elected official wants to receive. Another shot. More lives lost. “The national epidemic of gun violence has hit our community again,” said Katie Valenzuela, a member of the local council. A local resident described arriving at the scene of the shooting. Berry Accius of Sacramento’s nonprofit youth mentoring Voice of the Youth said it had found a “chaotic” situation on stage, KXTV reported. “A lot of bloody victims, just seeing some of the families who did not know if their loved one was alive, were running, trying to figure out what was going on, upset people, upset people,” Accius told the television station. Phone calls asking for comments were left to Sacramento police.
