JERSEY CITY, NJ – At least one Saint Peter alumnus is not yet ready to celebrate the incredible Peacocks NCAA tournament. The Peacocks got their ticket to the Elite Eight with a historic reversal of victory over No. 3-seeded Purdue Boilermakers on Friday night in Philadelphia. With the victory, the Peacocks became the number 15 NCAA tournaments to qualify for the Elite Eight. Going into the second half of last night, Saint Peter’s fell four points from Purdue. The momentum quickly changed as the Peacocks started the second half with an 8-0 streak and continued to gain 3 points. “It gives our school something to take root; something to be proud of,” a St. Peter’s student told Fox News Digital. “We will just keep going. We are not going to stop. We have all this momentum.” Saint Peter’s celebrates after Purdue’s Sweet 16 victory at the NCAA Tournament on Friday, March 25, 2022 in Philadelphia. They want more. “We’re excited,” said Joey, an alum who spoke to Fox News after the game. “We’re not done yet. Job is not over. We made history today, but we’re not done. It ‘s important to understand that. We’re going to do it all here.” The Peacocks’ last appearance in an NCAA tournament before this season was in 2011 as No. 14, when they lost to Purdue by 22 points in the first round. The Peacocks, led by Shaheen Holloway, avenged their 2011 defeat on Friday, marching to victory on National Peacock Day.
