Police say a 12-year-old was arrested on suspicion of assault after the incident at Chapel Lane near the Co-op Academy in Blackley on Monday morning. The victim suffered a “small wound on the top of the shoulder” and has since been discharged from hospital.
A spokesman for the Greater Manchester Police Department said: “Around 8.30am. This morning, police were called to report a knife in Chapel Lane, Blackley.

“Police arrived and located an 11-year-old girl with a minor injury to her upper shoulder. She was rushed to hospital and has since been discharged. A 12-year-old has since been arrested on suspicion of assault. Investigations are ongoing.”
A police van was pictured outside the school on Plant Hill Road Monday morning.
A spokesman for the Northwest West Ambulance Service said: “We witnessed a police incident at the school following a call at 8:22 a.m. and we transported a female patient to the hospital. “

A spokesman for the Co-op Academy said: “We can confirm that an incident occurred off-site just before school this morning. All involved are being cared for and supported. As this is the subject of an ongoing police investigation, it would be inappropriate. to comment further “.
A message sent to the parents from the school, which was seen by the Manchester Evening News, stated that the incident “was dealt with quickly and appropriately”. He added: “We appreciate the concerns of parents and carers and have contacted them as soon as possible after ensuring the safety of all students.”
