Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, DN.Y., said he believes Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas should acquit himself of charges related to the Jan. 6 events, after it was revealed last week that his wife sent written messages to the then head of the White House, Mark Meadows, urging him to provoke Donald Trumpelectoral defeat of 2020. “I think he has to resign,” Sumer told reporters at a news conference on Tuesday. “The information we have at the moment raises serious questions about how close Judge Thomas and his wife were to planning and carrying out the uprising.” THE DEMOCRATS OF THE SENATE FIRST TO EXCLUDE THOMAS CLARENS FROM JAN. 6 CASES In addition, Schumer said he believed there should be “some kind of code of conduct for Supreme Court justices”. Sumer is one of many Democrats who recently called on Thomas to step down following reports of messages between the Midwives and Virginia “Ginny” Thomas. On Monday, Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., Chairman of the Senate Justice Committee, called on Thomas to withdraw from the Jan. 6 case, noting that the relationship between Thomas’s wife and Meadows “really creates a obvious conflict “. Last week, Sen. Before concluding his investigation, these text messages, part of a larger number of documents, were delivered by Meadows to the House Selection Committee investigating the events at the Capitol on January 6, 2021. He also called the 2020 presidential election “the biggest robbery in our history.” Senator Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., he said CBS News reported last Friday that Thomas would have to “appear voluntarily” before the Jan. 6 panel to discuss text messages his wife sent to Meadows.
