A search of a Sam Club retail center evacuated Friday night turned up no suspicious devices, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said.
Sheriff’s deputies and two bomb-detecting dogs gave full release to the warehouse store at 8200 block of Power Inn Road shortly after 8 p.m., said Sheriff Sgt’s office spokeswoman. Kionna Rowe.
Deputies were called to Sam’s Club shortly after 5pm after a man gave a note to an employee saying there was a bomb on the property. Store managers cleared the building of workers and customers as deputies arrived at the scene, Rowe and Sam’s Club officials said.
“After being alerted to a potential threat, management alerted authorities and evacuated the club,” said JD Byrum, a spokesman for Walmart, based in Bentonville, Arkansas, the parent company of Sam’s Club. “No member or associate was injured and the club has been approved to reopen.”
The dogs searched the property across East Stockton Boulevard and Calvine Road for several hours before clearing the scene.
Could it have been an April Fool’s joke? “Threats of this magnitude are being taken seriously,” Rowe said.
