In a press release, police said the alleged incidents took place between 2017 and 2021, while the woman was teaching at a Montessori in Ottawa. The alleged victims are a boy and a girl, both of whom were under 18 years old. Police did not name the school, but Lisa Wallace, chair of the Canada Montessori board, said in a statement that the charges against a former teacher were made by two former students. “Once these complaints were reported, we took immediate action to address them. As soon as we learned of the complaints, we removed the staff member from the school and reported the matter to the Ottawa Police Department. The accused is no longer employed at the school. “He has not been busy for the last two months,” Wallace wrote. “We are saddened and shocked by this news. “The well-being, security and happiness of our students has always been – and will continue to be – our top priority.” Wallace said the matter has also been referred to Ontario Teachers College. Andreea Andrei, 37, and Harry Andrei, 38, were jointly charged with sexual assault and sexual exploitation. Police say there may be additional casualties as the woman previously worked as a teacher in the Toronto area before 2017.
