The singer paid for his nephews to drive to the Polish-Ukrainian border and pick up families who had fled the war.
Warren and Gavin Cady joined six other volunteers at mercy before bringing them to safety in Berlin.

He told Record: “I donated four trucks driven by my nieces and nephew and some other gentlemen. “They drove through France, Belgium, Germany and Poland, dropped off supplies and picked up refugees and left them in Berlin. “It took them three and a half days to get there and come back. “These are the heroes, not me.” Warren, 37, of Bracknell, Berkshire, who works for Rod as a estate manager, praised his uncle for supporting the escort. It covered virtually all financial matters. “Rod is deeply saddened by what is happening in Ukraine. It made him cry. He wanted to, but I insisted he stayed. “It simply came to our notice then. Every day he was on the phone or texting, asking how we were doing. He cried when I sent him photos of children in the refugee camp. He said: “We were not physically or emotionally prepared for what we saw in the refugee camp. Everyone was exhausted. “A little girl was lying face down, I gave her a teddy bear, she smiled at me and tears rolled down her face. That really got me. “Marketing is widespread at the moment, so the team was reluctant to come with us at first. They were just shocked. “The children are injured. We stopped at a gas station in Poland and a helicopter flew over. You could say they were terrified. Later, we stopped at a McDonald’s. In the toilet someone used the hand dryer and immediately the children all fell to the floor. It was awful. The emotion caught me and I was crushed. “There is no sense of success because, at the moment, no help is ever enough. An emotional Evans told listeners on the Virgin Radio Breakfast Show about Rod and his family’s efforts to help the affected Ukrainians. Chris was shocked to hear about the veteran rocker’s generosity. Chris’s wife, Natasha, had told him what Rod had done and shared the story with his listeners. He added: “Now I have discovered all this. Isn’t it just wonderful? “It is very moving. “I have not heard Rod Stewart talk about it at all.” The audience was equally impressed with the singer’s efforts and went to social media to praise him. One post read: “This is what celebrities should do – take a page out of Rod’s book. “Do not just share stupid posts – go out and do something amazing with all their money.” Another published: “Rod Stewart is truly such a wonderful man.” And a tweet wrote: “What a model and incredible person.” Do not miss the latest news from all over Scotland and beyond – Subscribe to our daily newsletter here .
