Neighbors shocked by Everett policeman murder
Neighbors say they can not believe the violence that ended in their block, after a suspect who escaped, for the murder of an Everett officer, fell at the crossroads. It is with regret that we inform our community that Officer Dan Rocha was killed today while on duty. Officer Rocha, 41, has lived in Everett for over a decade and has served in the Everett Police Department since 2017. He initially worked in the enforcement of the parking lot and in 2018 became a fully commissioned police officer. He served the city of Everett as a patrol officer in North Everett for most of his career and was highly regarded by both the community and fellow officers. His loss will forever leave a void in our company and our community. Officer Rocha was survived by his wife, two sons and a large family. Please keep them in mind during this extremely difficult time. The inquiry into the death of Officer Rocha is being conducted by Snohomish County Multidisciplinary Team and all questions should be directed to their PIO. Our department and all its members are grateful for the support that our community and our law enforcement colleagues have shown us during this time. Details about the memorial will be given soon. ” Everett Community College was locked for several minutes due to its proximity to the stage. The lockdown was announced shortly before 2:30 p.m. “Not a drill. Lock the doors. Seek refuge. Avoid being seen or heard,” the college wrote on Twitter. SMART responded to the incident. They are called upon to respond and investigate incidents of police violence. Police have arrested a 50-year-old suspect at the scene, Everett’s officer Kerby Duncan told The Everett Herald. The suspect was not injured. The news came during a celebration of life for Pierce County MP Dom Calata, who was shot and killed on the line of duty earlier this month.
