The Foo Fighters drummer died on Friday, March 25 in Bogota, Colombia. He was found dead in his hotel room a few hours before the band was due to head to the Festival Estéreo Picnic. Colombia’s attorney general said in a new statement that a preliminary urine toxicology test on Hawkins’ body identified 10 different substances, including marijuana, opioids, tricyclic antidepressants and benzodiazepines. The statement continued: “The National Institute of Forensic Medicine continues to conduct the necessary medical studies to determine the cause of death. “The Office of the Attorney General will continue the investigation and will duly inform the findings of the forensic examinations in due course.” An investigation into the exact cause of Hawkins’s death is now under way. A further statement from Bogota’s municipal government explained that a report by a hotel visitor with “chest pain” prompted an ambulance to be sent to the Four Seasons Casa Medina. Upon arrival, health workers tried to resuscitate Hawkins, but were unsuccessful. Courtney Love is one of the last stars to pay tribute to Hawkins, writing on Twitter: “What a sad day, what a tragic passage, Taylor was a sweet adorable kid, a great drummer, he never hurt a fly … The condolences My dear Pat [Smear]and to David [Grohl] tonight. Rip Taylor. I’m very sorry Dave. “ Hawkins was born in Fort Worth, Texas in 1972 and has been a member of the band since 1997. The Foo Fighters were among the actors scheduled to appear at the 2022 Grammy Awards on April 3 and were scheduled to embark on a new tour of North America in May.
