The victim is 17-year-old Anthony ‘China’ McClain. He was a barber who co-owned the store with his mother. “I’re just standing outside the barber shop, and there was a commotion and something happened and a stray bullet, that’s it,” said LaChawn Hood, McClain’s cousin. Hood remembered the moment someone shot and killed McClain. “It affects me a lot because my children were very close. “I am just a young child, just innocent and part of the armed violence that is happening in the city,” he said. For hours, Clayton County Police cordoned off the barber shop outside River Station Blvd. in Clayton County to investigate what caused the riot outside the store that killed McClain. Police said he was caught in the fire. His family said he was an innocent passerby. His family said McClain was at work doing what he loved most – cutting his hair. “Antonis was a very talented child. He was homely, very helpful with his mother, grandfather and grandmother and excelled in everything he did. “ Hood said he showed that spirit of excellence in the barber shop. “He was very active. “He was in his second year of college, he got the barber’s license,” he said. He worked to acquire the store with his mom. “It was a family business that started together. “They did everything from setting up everything, making floors, painting the walls and just putting everything they had in a family business,” Hood said. Now this dream is unfortunately interrupted. This is what they have to say to his killer. “I just have to say that I would like you to surrender. Young people, please just lower your weapons. “There are other ways to handle situations other than violence,” Hood said. MOVIE STORIES: © 2022 Cox Media Group
