The person who died was a customer at the Trail Road landfill, public works general manager Quentin Levescu said in a Sunday memo to the city council. Levesco’s memo provided no further details about the “unfortunate fatality,” citing the ministry’s investigation. The person was rushed to hospital in critical condition but later died, a spokesperson for the Ottawa Paramedic Service told CBC. “The Department of Public Works sends its condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of the customer who was fatally injured in the incident,” Levesque wrote. According to the memo, landfill workers who were on site when the incident occurred are receiving support.
