The latest case numbers confirmed by the Scottish Government were released on Friday (25 March) and confirmed 10,100 new cases of covid with 41 recent deaths. Meanwhile, 2,326 were treated for coronavirus – the fifth consecutive day of record hospitalization. Glasgow remains the region with the highest number of cases, with 2,066 recorded on Friday. All but five of the city’s neighborhoods are also in the highest category for infection rates, with more than 800 cases per 100,000. The five neighborhoods that are slightly lower – between 400 and 799 – are Wyndford, Springburn East and Cowlairs, Petershill, Gorbals and Hutchesontown and Govanhill West. Summerston North, meanwhile, has the highest rate per 100,000 at 2,074.8. They are followed by Drumry East (1,973.9), Central Easterhouse (1,831.3) and Cathcart (1,759.2). Despite the high number of cases across Scotland, the Scottish Government has made plans to continue easing the remaining coronavirus restrictions.
