In the Urus, the name signifies extra power, less weight and a more aggressive stance achieved thanks to a lower ride height (by 20mm) and a wider body (by 16mm). Peak power comes from a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 that produces 657 horsepower, up a modest 16 horsepower from the standard Urus. The result is 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 190 mph. That’s 0.2 seconds faster to 60 than the standard Urus, though top speed is the same for both versions. To go with the extra power, the vehicle also benefits from a 103-pound weight savings. This was achieved through the addition of a carbon fiber hood, lighter suspension springs, reduced sound deadening and many other mods. However, the vehicle still tips the scales at a substantial 5,200 lbs. Other key performance upgrades include 22-inch alloy wheels (23-inch available) with titanium studs, increased ground clearance (by 8%), a new differential with increased ratios and a new Rally drive mode that adjusts inversion and suspension damping for improved performance when drive fast over uneven surfaces. Lamborghini has already demonstrated the SUV’s performance by setting a record time for production vehicles up Pikes Peak. The Urus Performante climbed the 14,115-foot mountain in a time of 10:32.064, beating the previous record of 10:49.902 set in 2018 by a Bentley Bentayga. The Urus Performante was fitted with a special set of Pirelli P Zero Trofeo tires measuring 285/40R22 at the front and 325/35R22 at the rear. Pirelli worked closely with Lamborghini to develop a version of the popular Trofeo R tires specifically for SUV applications. The Urus Performante is priced at $260,676 and begins delivery later this year. The rugged SUV was first unveiled on Friday during Monterey Auto Week 2022. Lamborghini has planned a second Urus reveal for later this year, which will likely be an updated version of the standard SUV.
