The Wanted star was diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma in October 2020 and was given just 12 months by doctors.
He died earlier today, surrounded by family and colleagues in the band as he listened to the Oasis Live Forever song.
A close friend told the Sun: “You might have thought Tom would choose something from The Wanted, but Oasis Live Forever sums it up perfectly – he was a rock star and so he wants to be remembered.”
In September 2021, 11 months after his diagnosis, Tom sang at the Stand Up 2 Cancer show at the Royal Albert Hall and even embarked on a Greatest Hits tour with his teammates when the tumor was confirmed to be “stable” in November.
But Tom’s condition quickly deteriorated when the tour ended earlier this year.
“Tom loved touring – he was an absolute rock star and determined to follow the boys on stage. “He enjoyed playing two songs at night and did well with his performance, but he really got it out of him,” the source told The Sun.
“We all noticed how quickly Tom got worse during the tour, but he did not regret it – he really wanted to do it.”
The tragic news of his death was confirmed by his wife Kelsey, 32, whom he leaves behind with their two children, Aurelia, two, and Bodhi, one.
Kelsey said today: “It is with a heavy heart that we confirm that Tom died peacefully earlier today with all his family at his side.
“Our hearts are broken. Tom was the center of our world and we can not imagine life without his infectious smile and active presence.
“We are truly grateful for the outpouring of love and support and we ask that we all unite to ensure that Tom’s light continues to shine on his beautiful children.”
He continued to thank everyone who cared for Tom during his illness, adding that he fought the illness to the end.
A statement posted on the band’s official Instagram account read: “The whole Wanted family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our bandmate Tom Parker, who died peacefully this afternoon surrounded by family and friends. complex.
“Tom was an amazing husband to Kelsey and a father to Aurelia and Bodie. He was our brother, words can not express the loss and grief we feel. “Always and forever in our hearts.”
The 33-year-old singer’s death comes just a week after he revealed that he was in the process of writing an indicative memoir in the midst of a battle with brain cancer.
Tom took to Instagram last Tuesday to share the news with his fans and announce that the book will be released in July.
He said that the book, called Hope, is not going to have to do with “dying” but “living” and “finding hope” in whatever situation you are in.
“We are truly grateful for the outpouring of love and support and we ask that we all come together to ensure that Tom’s light continues to shine on his beautiful children,” said Tom’s wife, Kelsey.

WHAT IS GLIOPLASTOMA AND HOW SIMPLY IS DEATH?
Glioblastoma is considered to be the most aggressive tumor that can form in the brain. Patients have a 10 percent chance of surviving five years after diagnosis, according to data. The average lifespan is between 14 and 16 months. Three adults per 100,000 will be struck with glioblastoma, says the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS). It is more common in men aged 50 to 60 years and there is no link between the onset of glioblastoma and a previous history of other cancers. WHAT DOES THE VOLUME CONSIST OF? The tumor consists of a mass of cells that grow rapidly in the brain and in most cases patients have no family history of the disease. It will not spread to other organs, however, once diagnosed, it is almost impossible to target, surgeons say. WHAT TREATMENT IS AVAILABLE? Because the tumor has probably already spread deep into the brain by the time it is diagnosed, the cancerous tissue is incredibly difficult to remove. The surgeon will never remove the tumor, or part of the tumor, only if it does not do any damage to the surrounding brain tissue. Dr Babcar Cisse, a neurosurgeon at the Weill Cornell Brain and Spine Center, told the Daily Mail Online in July 2017: “By the time a glioblastoma is diagnosed, microfibers can spread to the rest of the brain, which MRI will not detect. . “So, even if the main tumor is removed and the patient receives radiation and chemotherapy, he will come back.” GLIOVLASTOMA SCORE Brain tumors are graded from one to four, depending on how fast they grow and how aggressive they are. Malignant tumors are given a high grade of three or four, while benign tumors are given a lower grade of one or two. SYMPTOMS Patients often complain of symptoms such as blurred vision, memory problems, dizziness and headaches. The symptoms are somewhat non-specific and vary from person to person and may not persist. The disease is therefore impossible to diagnose on the basis of symptoms alone. Tom was diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma and was made public with his diagnosis in October 2020. Last week, when he unveiled a draft cover for his memoirs, he shared a sweet video of a cartoon book leafing through pages containing photos of Tom and his family. In a caption next to the post, he revealed: “Hi, I’m Tom Parker, many of you know me as one-fifth of The Wanted, but I’m also a father, husband and son battling brain cancer. . “My book, coming this July, has nothing to do with death: It’s a book about life. It is a book to find hope in any situation you face and to live your best life no matter what happens “. A source close to Tom’s wife, Kelsey, said that although the family was mourning, they were happy that the singer was no longer in pain. “While they would give anything to spend another day with their beloved Tom, they did not want to see him suffer or hurt anymore,” the source told The Sun. “If there is any silver lining in this inconceivable moment, it is the fact that Tom no longer feels any discomfort and can rest now.” At the last minute, the singer heard the success of Oasis on the 1994 Live Forever from their debut album Definitely Maybe. Tributes to the singer The Wanted have already flooded. Tom’s partner, Siva Kaneswaran, wrote on Instagram: “Hello, Tom, I hope you have a great time up there. “I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to see your true courage. It was fine in my life Tommy Boy. “Thank you for letting us see you enlighten the world. Talk to you soon and keep up the good content. I love you brother x ‘ Union J singer JJ Hamblett called Tom “an incredible artist and a real family man”, writing on Twitter: “I’m speechless! ‘Such a hard, hard world … RIP Tom .. you will miss but you will never forget’. Howard Donald from Take That – a band that Tom had idolized as a member of a tribute – also sent condolences to the family of The Wanted star. He wrote on Twitter: “So young and so sad. RIP @TomParker by @thewanted. Strength and love to his family “. Reality star and presenter Rylan Clark wrote on Twitter: “I just saw the news about Tom and that’s absolutely creepy. He was so good. So sad to hear. I send my love to Kelsey and the children. Tragic news. And marking his father’s death after a battle with cancer last year, former Strictly Come Dancing star James Jordan wrote: “I just heard that Tom Parker died, the same bad disease that struck my father. “My thoughts and prayers are with his family.” No one expected a former member of the Take That II tribute act to join one of the UK’s biggest boy bands, but Tom managed to defy the odds.
