The 20-year-old was walking on Gordon Street, near the train station, when he was savagely attacked by a man at around 21:45 on Saturday.
After being hit in the head and seriously injured, the victim was taken to Glasgow Royal Hospital for treatment. Status H is currently unknown. Police believe he was involved in a “fight” with the victim five minutes before the attack. The suspect is described as white, in his 20s, of medium build, with short black hair shaved on the sides. Police said they would look into any relevant CCTV footage from a nearby area for images that could help with the investigation. Police Detective Matthew McCann said: “We believe that five minutes before the attack, there was an altercation between the two men. “This area is always busy with people outside and around and having fun together. “I appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident to contact us. “Even if you think your information is not important, let us know and please pass it on. “A young man has suffered a serious head injury and it is vital that we find the person responsible.” Anyone with information is kindly requested to contact the Scottish Police via 101 stating the incident number 4032 for 26 March.
