The party removed the whip from David Warburton, the conservative MP from Somerton and Frome, who is believed to be facing charges by three women, while a photo of the MP allegedly sitting next to lines of cocaine appeared. The Warburton photo, published by the Sunday Times, is said to date back to February. It is alleged that he was shot at the home of a younger woman he met through politics. The accusations from two other women have been handed over to the new parliamentary harassment monitoring body, the Independent Complaints and Grievance Scheme (ICGS). A spokesman for the Whip Bureau said: “David Werberton’s MP has asked for the Conservative Party to have his whip removed while the investigation is ongoing.” Warburton, 56, is a married father of two and a former businessman. The Sunday Times claims that he asked to buy the medicine, before saying that the price was “really good”. The woman involved claimed she was drunk, but began to feel uncomfortable being alone with the MP as she got less drunk. She said that he retired to her bedroom, but that he went to bed with her, naked. He said he did not ask him to leave or push him away because he was afraid he would react. She said she had given repeated warnings that she did not want to have sex with him, but claimed he was squeezing his body against her and touching her breast. The woman is said to have made no complaint to police or any other authority, saying she wanted to forget about the incident. The MP has in the past condemned the exploitation of young people involved in the drug trade, including “intimidation, violence and criminal motives”. ICGS was set up to deal with misconduct by MPs, colleagues and staff following complaints of misconduct. Allegations have now been made that Warburton behaved inappropriately. Warburton’s Twitter account appeared to have been deleted on Saturday. The Observer approached Warburton for comment Saturday. Speaking to the Sunday Telegraph, he said: “I have a huge defense, but unfortunately the way things work means it does not come out first. I have not heard anything from the Independent Complaints and Appeals System. I’m sorry, I can not comment anymore. “
