Toronto police say they were called to the corner of Guildwood Parkway and Livingston Road at 12:26 p.m. for a shooting report.
They arrived to find a 16-year-old boy suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
He was taken to hospital for treatment.
Investigators say he is not cooperating and is unsure of the exact time he was shot.
Rescuers described his injury as minor.
The shooting scene is just about 100 meters from the Sir Wilfrid Laurier Collegiate Institute, which is currently under lockdown due to research.
Detectives said they did not yet have any suspicious information.
